346_Private Residence in Kato Polemidia, Limassol
The board formed wall combined with the perforated metal sheet on the façade of the house acts as the only boundary between the public busy road and the privacy and quietness of the residence since the front fences are short to aim a more organic connection of the road to the plot.
The architectural focal point is the diagonal “crack like” window on the façade, that gives glimpses to the outdoors from the staircase and provides natural lighting to the indoor corridor.
The house has an L shape configuration giving a direct connection of the common spaces to the outdoor area where a pool and BBQ area are designed. A playroom was considered on the ground floor with the ability to be accommodate guests as a bedroom if needed in the future. From the double parking space an access door through the pantry area leads to the kitchen.
On the first floor there are three bedrooms overlooking the enclosed garden and pool area. One of the bedrooms is en-suite and features a walk in closet. Adjacent to the bedrooms a small laundry room with was designed that has access to a balcony hidden behind perforated metal sheets that are also used on the building’s façade.
In terms of materials the design explores a play between the industrial dark tones and character of board formed concrete coating and sheet metal on a clean, minimal white blanc canvas of the white smooth stucco surface.
The total area of the house is 228 sqm, with 10sqm covered verandas, 53sqm uncovered and 32sqm double covered parking.
The total completion time of the house is estimated at 12 months.
